Today my wife, La'ai, who is Samoan decided to take a day off from work and go to work with me, chaos ensues. First order of business, wake up and get 13 year old son and 6 year old daughter fed, dressed, clean, organized and to school. We always wake up late. We are always in a hurry. Wife decides to pretend to be too sleepy to get up and help. Amputee mother wakes up and gets her self and her wheelchair in the middle of the chaos asking for coffee and toast with butter and jelly. She usually finishes her first cup of coffee right when we are ready to walk out of the door 10 minutes late. She likes her coffee with milk and french vanilla creamer, 2 scoops of sugar, then heated in the microwave for 23 seconds. You can't believe what a pain this is when you put your hand on the door handle to leave with kids and then she asks for another cup.
Car pool lane at elementary school, get there very late or very early never arrive when the mass is there it's like a whole bus load of mentally challenged people were given cars and jobs directing the carpool, it really is terrible. I will probably end up in prison for killing another driver or one of the teachers during car pool at the elementary school. I've been doing this for 9 years and there is no solution, trust me. Got there early this morning. Middle school carpool drop off went well because I got there early because my son goes to early pe.
Back home. 4 year old daughter is now awake, wife still pretending to be asleep. Feed 4 year old. Mom is now ready for some water. Go to get in the shower. Wife is up now, she's in the shower. Start a load of laundry. Go get some breakfast for myself and set up Greek video to study for Seminary. Wife is out of shower, wants to talk about plans for today. I tell her I've already been working on the day for 2 hours, this doesn't go over well. I go take a shower and confess I will probably fail Greek because its too late to drop it like I did last fall.
Dressed, packed for the day, computer and books. Tell wife it's time to go, we have to go visit a member in the hospital. Go to hospital and try to make small talk and a joke to encourage and "cheer up" the family. The family is not into small talk or banter, they're down. They tell me that the nurse just gave them the diagnosis of blood clots in the lungs five minutes before I came in, this is bad, I feel very stupid. Note to self, always ask if there is any news before beginning lighthearted banter when visiting members in the hospital. Pray with family and leave the hospital.
Head to Steve's store to eat lunch. Usually there are many church members at Steve's store. Today no church members are there. We go to order and my wife walks away like I know what she wants. This is a gas station restaurant in a very rural area. There are many construction workers in line behind me. I yell at my wife that I have no idea what she wants to eat. She looks at me like I'm stupid and says "chicken salad." That's it, that's all she says, and keeps looking at me like I'm dumb. I try to explain to my foreign wife that "chicken salad" is not a complete order, chicken salad sandwhich? chicken salad salad? what? She just looks at me like I'm dumb and then tells the clerk she wants a chicken salad salad, and looks at me like I'm an idiot. The clerk says, "we don't have any chicken salad!" Ha! Ha! victory, yes! Now my wife smiles and tries to play the whole thing off and orders a chef salad and walks away without acknowledging my victory, this is frustrating. Construction workers behind me are mumbling and laughing. I order and go sit down.
The other half of our day tomorrow.

Christian Life
Living the Christian life actually turns out to be pretty cool. One of the things I've been studying and trying to implement recently is the idea of team work. It's really amazing how much you see the dynamics of team work at play in scripture. Leaders throughout scripture are building teams. When God created Adam it wasn't long until God created Eve, the first team, certainly they were more than a team, but nevertheless they were a team. When God called Moses to go to Egypt to lead the Israelites out of captivity he partnered him with Aaron, another team. David had his band of disgruntled, Paul had Barnabas, Jesus called 12 disciples, etc, etc.
